Offering travellers more flexible options and wider access to destinations across Brazil, Morocco, Qatar, Mauritius & Turkey, fostering tourism

Turkish Airlines, renowned for connecting more countries than any other airline worldwide, has deepened its collaboration with TAP Air Portugal, the national airline of Portugal and a dominant force in European travel to Brazil. The two carriers have agreed to broaden their codeshare partnership, signalling a stronger strategic alignment in international aviation.

Announced Expansion During Global Aviation Summit

The announcement was made during the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi. Under the expanded agreement, both airlines will now offer their passengers more extensive and convenient travel options that go beyond their existing global networks. New destinations such as Brazil, Morocco, Qatar, and Mauritius have been brought into the scope of their cooperation.

Enhanced Connectivity to Popular Leisure Spots

In addition to international routes, the agreement also includes Türkiye’s popular resort towns Dalaman and Bodrum. These additions are expected to boost travel between Portugal and Türkiye, giving travellers greater access to some of the region’s most desirable summer destinations.

Commenting on the agreement, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi stated: "We are pleased to further strengthen our long-standing partnership with TAP Air Portugal. Enhanced scope of the new arrangement offers greater flexibility and a wider range of travel options, while contributing to the development of commercial and tourism relations between our countries. We look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration in the years ahead."

TAP Air Portugal CEO Luís Rodrigues also commented: “Because of our network structure we need to find intelligent ways to connect us to the east. Cooperating with great partners is our way forward to do that. This will provide our global passengers and our Portuguese community with increased options to visit new and exciting places using our Turkish Airlines partner.”

Driving Growth in Tourism and Business Travel

This reinforced collaboration does more than just broaden route maps—it’s set to strengthen tourism and commercial travel links not only between Portugal and Türkiye, but also across key regions including South America, Africa, and the Middle East. By opening up new travel corridors, both airlines aim to meet growing global demand for seamless international connectivity.
