CES 2024 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 (local time), and Sony Honda Mobility Inc. (SHM) will have a stand there. Sony's press presentation took place on Monday, January 8 (local time), ahead of CES® opening to the public. President Izumi Kawanishi, Representative Director, and COO took the podium. During the press conference, an exciting collaboration was unveiled, marking the commencement of a partnership between SHM and Polyphony Digital in the realm of vehicle development. The primary objective of this alliance is to forge new value through the exchange of vehicle information with various partners.
SHM revealed a strategic partnership with Polyphony Digital Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Polyphony Digital, headquartered in Koto-ku, Tokyo, with Kazunori Yamauchi serving as President and Representative Director, will be joining forces with SHM in the realm of real-world vehicle development.
The focus of the collaboration is on the creation of vehicles that seamlessly integrate the virtual and real worlds, particularly emphasizing human senses and emotions. This ambitious goal will be achieved by synergizing Polyphony Digital's cutting-edge simulation technology with SHM's expertise in the actual development of vehicles.
Izumi Kawanishi graced the stage to unveil the enhanced prototype for the first time. During his address, Kawanishi highlighted the advancements in two key areas – "AI for ADAS" and "Mobility as a Creative Entertainment Space" – emphasizing the overarching theme of “Redefining the relationship between people and mobility.” A highlight of the press conference was the introduction of the AFEELA Prototype 2024. This groundbreaking vehicle will soon become part of a patch update for Gran Turismo 7, scheduled for release later this year (exact date to be announced). Before its physical release, enthusiasts will have the unique opportunity to experience driving the AFEELA Prototype 2024 in the game.
