A Qatari company has expressed its interest in collaborating with Algeria's state-owned energy firm, Sonatrach, to construct a chemical plant within the North African nation, according to reports in the Algerian press. Scheduled for early September, Power International Holding plans to dispatch a team to Algeria for discussions with Sonatrach officials concerning the project's scope, aimed at the production of Butene and Polybutene. Various Algerian publications, including Elkhabar Daily, have reported on this prospective partnership.

According to Algerian Energy Minister Mohammed Arkab, this endeavour is set to be a "joint venture" between Sonatrach and the Qatari company. He emphasized Sonatrach's readiness to collaborate with Power International in realizing this project, which aligns with Algeria's strategic goals to bolster its industrial sector. However, no specific project details were disclosed at this time.
