Anticipating over 5 million visitors this summer, Uber has unveiled a suite of new travel options designed to enhance the experience of exploring Italy's stunning Amalfi Coast. These new services, accessible directly through the Uber app, aim to provide seamless travel by land, sea, and air.
Elevated Travel by Air: Uber Copter
For those seeking a luxurious and efficient journey, Uber Copter offers private round-trip helicopter transfers between Sorrento and the picturesque island of Capri. Starting June 25th, holidaymakers can pre-book this exclusive service via Uber Reserve. Departing from a private helipad in Sorrento, groups of up to six can enjoy a day trip to Capri in a dual-engine, dual-pilot helicopter for €250 per person, including transfers to and from the helipad anywhere on the Amalfi Coast.
Scenic Cruises by Sea: Uber Boat
Experience the iconic blue waters of the Amalfi Coast with Uber Boat, providing a sophisticated way to explore the coastline. This service offers private charters for up to 12 people, departing from Sorrento Marina. Guests will enjoy a four-hour cruise aboard a stylish Italian Gozzo 35 boat, complete with a personal skipper and complimentary snacks and beverages.
Convenient Pre-Bookings and Expanded Ground Transport
Both Uber Copter and Uber Boat can be booked in advance through Uber Reserve from anywhere in Italy, requiring a minimum of 48 hours' notice. These summer services will operate every Saturday and Sunday from July 26th to August 24th. Additionally, Uber is expanding its ground transport options on the Amalfi Coast with the launch of its scheduled rides product, Uber Reserve. This will allow travelers to pre-book rides, helping them navigate the expected crowds, especially following the introduction of international flights at Salerno Airport.
Meeting Growing Demand for Travel
These new travel products are a direct response to the increasing demand for Uber's services in popular Italian tourist destinations. Data from summer 2024 revealed a significant surge in demand from international customers, with a 25% increase in mobility service usage in areas like Rome, Lake Como, and the Amalfi Coast. Last summer alone, over 400,000 international customers utilized the Uber app in Italy, and more than 60,000 people accessed the Uber app on the Amalfi Coast within the past year.
Anabel Diaz, Vice President, EMEA Mobility at Uber, said: “At Uber, we strive to help our customers go anywhere, wherever they are travelling. Italy is fast becoming one of our most popular tourist destinations, with travellers turning to the Uber app to help make their holiday travel stress-free. This summer, we’re adding a series of unforgettable experiences that will make travelling by land, sea or air more magical than ever before.”
Availability of Uber Copter and Uber Boat are expected to be limited and subject to weather conditions.
