Tesla's Cybertruck Revs Up Sales Despite EV Market Slowdown

The electric vehicle market is experiencing a slowdown, but Tesla's Cybertruck is proving to be a bright spot for the company. Sales are growing steadily in the United States. According to data from Finbold, Tesla sold 2,803 Cybertrucks in the first quarter of 2024. Sales figures increased each month, from 869 in January to 925 in February and finally reaching 1,009 in March. This translates to an average of 31 trucks sold per day so far in 2024.

However, despite this growth, Tesla is not yet the leader in the electric pickup truck market. Ford sold 7,335 units in the first quarter, followed by Tesla's Cybertruck with 2,803. Rivian and General Motors also have strong contenders in this category, with Rivian selling 2,737 units of their R1T and GM selling 1,061 units of the Chevrolet Silverado EV. GMC's Hummer EV rounds out the top five with 272 units sold.

The Cybertruck's sales performance could significantly impact Tesla's electric vehicle (EV) position. The Finbold research report also highlights this, noting that strong Cybertruck sales in the first quarter are a positive sign for Tesla, especially considering the slowdown in the general EV market.
