Dubai Unveils $544 Million Road Project Connecting Six Key Corridors

Dubai has launched a major road infrastructure project worth AED 2 Billion ($544 million) aimed at easing congestion and improving traffic flow across the emirate.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded the contract for the Latifa bint Hamdan mega road development project.

The 12km corridor will extend to Sheikh Zayed Road, connecting it with Al Khail Road, Al Meydan Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road.

The Latifa bint Hamdan project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.

Once completed, the development will feature seven new bridges spanning 2.3km and eight tunnels with a combined length of 900 metres.

The upgraded corridor will significantly reduce congestion on Sheikh Zayed Road and accommodate more than 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

The project is expected to support over 130,000 daily trips while cutting travel time between Umm Al Sheif Street and Emirates Road by up to 18 minutes.

The enhanced road network will benefit communities including Nad Al Sheba, Al Barari, Dubai Hills, Dubai District One, Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, Living Legends, Majan and Global Village.

As part of the project, 12.5km of dedicated cycling tracks will also be developed to strengthen connectivity between Al Qudra and Jumeirah.

According to the RTA, the corridor is expected to serve around 650,000 residents and visitors.

The journey, which currently takes around 33 minutes, will be reduced to approximately 15 minutes after the project is completed.
