Newly launched Air Cargo carrier targets key Global South trade routes with an agile middle-mile model.

SolitAir, a newly established air cargo carrier based in Dubai, has introduced its first daily scheduled flights connecting Dubai and Riyadh. The service is designed to meet the growing middle-mile logistics demand in the region, marking a significant step in enhancing air freight connectivity.

Inaugural Flight Between Two Key Regional Hubs

The new service, which commenced on December 4, 2024, links Dubai World Central (DWC) and Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH). These two hubs collectively handle an impressive 1.2 million tonnes of air freight annually, highlighting the critical need for reliable and efficient logistics solutions in the region.

Five Weekly Flights Operated by Boeing 737-800 Freighters

SolitAir’s cargo flights operate five days a week, from Tuesday to Saturday, carrying freight on both legs of the journey. The service utilizes one of the company’s two Boeing 737-800 freighters, each with a 23-tonne capacity. In January 2025, an additional Boeing 737-800 freighter will join the fleet, enabling SolitAir to expand its operations to new markets, including India, Bangladesh, Africa, Central Asia, and other Middle Eastern hubs. The company’s long-term goal is to connect over 50 cities in the Global South within a six-hour flight radius from Dubai.

State-of-the-Art Facility in Dubai South

SolitAir operates from a cutting-edge 22,000-square-meter facility located at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai South. This advanced hub is equipped to handle a wide range of cargo types, including e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, perishables, dangerous goods, oversized items, and high-value shipments.

Meeting Speed-to-Market Needs

SolitAir’s strategic location, combined with its modern infrastructure and agile middle-mile logistics model, ensures fast and efficient delivery within 12 to 24 hours. The company is well-positioned to serve freight forwarders, integrator airlines, and SMEs, addressing the growing demand for time-sensitive and complex freight solutions.

Former Senior Vice President of FedEx Express Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, Hamdi Osman is SolitAir’s Founder and CEO. He said: “With a relentless focus on customer satisfaction and innovation, SolitAir appeals to businesses seeking reliable and efficient logistics solutions to drive their success in today’s global marketplace, especially as the Global South starts playing a leading role in the world economy.”

He added: “Right at the heart of this fast-emerging region accounting for over half of the global GDP, DWC is set to become the world’s largest airport with an annual cargo capacity of 12 million tonnes, 20 times more than it can currently handle.

“This new service between Dubai and Riyadh is the first step in establishing SolitAir as a key player in the region’s logistics ecosystem. By leveraging Dubai’s special place in the Global South ecosystem, latest technologies and operational efficiencies, we are building a network that delivers reliability and value for our partners.”
