This award honours not just the Munich Airport personnel but all 33,000 workers on the airport complex, including those employed by government agencies, airlines, and vehicle rental businesses.

Munich Airport was recently honoured with two esteemed awards at the World Airport Awards. The ceremony, held at the Passenger Terminal EXPO in Frankfurt, saw Munich Airport clinch the titles of “Best Airport Staff in Europe” and “Best Airport in Central Europe.” This recognition places Bavaria’s premier air travel hub at the impressive No. 8 spot in global passenger ratings, standing out as the sole German airport among the Top 10 worldwide.

Munich Airport CEO Jost Lammers is very pleased with this latest accomplishment: “We are particularly proud that our employees came out on top in Europe. This shows that Munich Airport is also perceived internationally as particularly hospitable. The awards are recognition of the commitment and hard work of our entire airport team.”

The distinction of Best Airport Staff in Europe not only celebrates the dedication of Munich Airport's personnel but also acknowledges the collective efforts of its entire 33,000-strong workforce, spanning public agencies, airlines, and rental car companies, among others. These accolades, coupled with national recognition as an exemplary employer, fortify the airport's standing in the labour market, evidenced by the recruitment of 1,500 new employees in 2023 through robust hiring initiatives. Receiving the Best Airport in Central Europe award underscores Munich Airport's unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards across all facets of its operations as a premier aviation hub. Following a rigorous re-assessment in October 2023 by experts from the Skytrax Institute, which scrutinized service quality and overall passenger experience, the airport proudly retained its 5-star quality seal, joining the ranks of only three European airports—Munich, Rome, and Istanbul—to achieve this distinction.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax said: “We congratulate Munich Airport for their success in winning these important customer awards for 2024. It is always noteworthy to see the front-line staff of the airport being recognized, and for Munich Airport it is a great achievement to be recognized as a leading airport by their customers”.

The World Airport Awards represent the pinnacle of recognition in the airport industry, determined through the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The 2024 Awards, based on feedback from over 100 nationalities of airport customers gathered from August 2023 to March 2024, affirm Munich Airport's commitment to excellence in serving travellers worldwide.
