Gabriel Semelas Takes Helm of Airbus in Africa & Middle East

Airbus has announced the appointment of Gabriel Semelas as the new President for Airbus in Africa and the Middle East, effective January 1, 2025.

Gabriel Semelas brings a wealth of experience to his new role, with over 24 years in the aeronautical industry and a history of holding significant executive positions. Currently serving as the Chief Commercial and Financial Officer at Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH in Germany, Semelas is returning to Airbus. Previously, he led the contracts team for Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft division in Africa and the Middle East.

Responsibilities and Strategic Importance

In his new capacity, Semelas will oversee Airbus' operations across all its divisions within the Africa and Middle East region, a critical area for the company's strategic growth. He will succeed Mikail Houari, who has been instrumental in expanding Airbus’ presence in the region over recent years.

Wouter Van Wersch, Executive Vice President International at Airbus, said: "Gabriel's extensive background in the aeronautical industry, coupled with his proven leadership skills, makes him the ideal candidate to lead Airbus' operations in Africa and the Middle East.
