Bombardier has unveiled plans for a new, state-of-the-art service center at Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi, marking another milestone in the company’s global expansion of its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. This latest move, carried out in partnership with Abu Dhabi Airports, showcases a shared vision for advancing aviation excellence across the region. Originally announced for Abu Dhabi International Airport in 2022, the project has since shifted to Al Bateen to better serve the operational needs of Bombardier’s clientele.
Driving Job Creation and Local Investment
Once fully operational, the new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) service hub is projected to generate around 100 specialized aerospace roles, reinforcing Bombardier’s long-term commitment to the UAE’s growing aviation industry. Construction is slated to begin in the first half of 2025, with the facility expected to be fully functional by the latter half of 2026.
“We are thrilled to announce the new location of our Abu Dhabi Service facility at the dynamic Al Bateen Executive Airport in Abu Dhabi,” said Paul Sislian, Executive Vice President, Aftermarket Services and Strategy. “This location is strategically aligned with all our aftermarket priorities and perfectly matches the needs of our discerning customer base. Our customers are accustomed to receiving an exceptional service experience wherever they are in the world, and this new facility in this dynamic financial hub will ensure they continue to receive the best service experience possible.”
"We are delighted to welcome Bombardier's new service facility to Al Bateen Executive Airport, building on a strong successful partnership,” said Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abu Dhabi Airports. “This move represents a strategic alignment, given the airport's dedicated focus on business aviation and its ability to provide a seamless and efficient experience for Bombardier's clientele. This facility will further affirm Abu Dhabi's position as a leading aviation hub and contribute significantly to the region's economic growth. We are confident this collaboration will drive mutual success for both Bombardier and Abu Dhabi Airports."
Comprehensive Facilities and Cutting-Edge Capabilities
The upcoming 120,000 square-foot complex will include a 55,000 square-foot hangar, an on-site parts depot, and a full range of maintenance offerings. These services will cover both scheduled and unscheduled heavy maintenance, aircraft modifications, and rapid Aircraft on Ground (AOG) support, ensuring that Bombardier operators in the region receive seamless and timely assistance.
Tailored Support for Next-Generation Aircraft
Designed to support the full spectrum of Bombardier’s aircraft families—including Learjet, Challenger, and Global—the new service center will be fully equipped to accommodate both the Global 7500 and the highly anticipated Global 8000, which is set to enter service in the second half of 2025. This advanced facility is poised to offer an unparalleled support solution for customers both in the region and around the globe.
Strengthening Presence in the UAE
This development adds to Bombardier’s existing infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates, complementing its well-established Dubai Line Maintenance Station. That facility already provides rapid-response AOG services and general line maintenance for Learjet, Challenger, and Global jets. The addition of the Al Bateen center reinforces Bombardier’s footprint in the region and enhances service accessibility for its growing customer base.
