The Oman and Etihad Rail Company, tasked with the development and operation of the railway network linking Oman and the UAE, has issued an invitation for specialized contractors to submit prequalification bids for the construction of freight facilities, depots, and stations connecting the two GCC states. The primary objective of this railway project is to enhance the movement of passengers and cargo between Oman and the UAE, leading to the creation of more job opportunities and the promotion of sustainable development. The envisioned railway link is set to strengthen economic ties between the two nations by establishing a secure and efficient railway network spanning 303 kilometers from Oman's Sohar Port to the UAE National Rail Network, linking Oman with Abu Dhabi.
In adherence to the tender document criteria, prospective bidders must be local companies or be part of a joint venture or consortium led by a locally registered company in the UAE or Oman, depending on the project location. Additionally, bidders are required to demonstrate a successful track record in delivering similar projects encompassing rail freight facilities, passenger stations, and maintenance depots within a railway environment. Furthermore, bidders must showcase a proven history of completing projects on time while upholding the highest standards of work quality and design.
