A cutting-edge Saudi resort is set to host a revolutionary zero-carbon 5G network, combining luxury with sustainability for an eco-friendly, high-tech experience.

Zain, a prominent Saudi Arabian service provider, has joined forces with Red Sea Global (RSG), a multi-project developer, to unveil an unprecedented achievement they're hailing as the world's inaugural zero-carbon 5G network. This groundbreaking network is located within the Six Senses Southern Dunes resort, nestled within The Red Sea Project along the western coast of Saudi Arabia.

The Red Sea Project, an expansive undertaking, is dedicated to the fusion of luxury and ecotourism to lure travellers to the stunning Red Sea coastline. Anticipated for full completion by the year 2030, this grand initiative has already seen the initiation of Six Senses Southern Dunes, a key component set to welcome its first guests as part of the initial development phase. This phase is well on course for completion by the end of 2023.

The distinguishing feature of this pioneering zero-carbon 5G network, exclusively tailored for The Red Sea, is its capacity to deliver the highest 5G connectivity speeds in the region. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is its complete reliance on renewable energy, drawn from an impressive array of over 760,000 solar panels meticulously installed by Red Sea Global. These solar panels will power the entire 28,000 square kilometres of The Red Sea destination. Incorporating innovative 3D printing techniques, the project is anchored in three core objectives: safeguarding the environment, diminishing emissions through renewable energy utilization, and minimizing visual intrusion. Furthermore, the network infrastructure has been meticulously designed to harmonize seamlessly with the natural landscape, ensuring minimal disruption. This milestone in technological advancement aligns perfectly with the objectives of Vision 2030, a government-driven program aimed at fostering clean energy adoption, reducing carbon emissions, and safeguarding the environment while concurrently diversifying the country's economy.

Set to welcome its inaugural guests later this year, The Red Sea Project boasts an impressive array of offerings. It will encompass 50 resorts, providing an impressive 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential properties spread across 22 islands and six inland sites upon completion. Additionally, the destination will feature luxurious marinas, world-class golf courses, diverse entertainment options, a wide range of dining choices, and a plethora of leisure facilities. Red Sea Global, the visionary company behind this endeavour, operates as a closed joint-stock entity fully owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia. This groundbreaking venture represents a significant stride towards a sustainable and technologically advanced future, firmly rooted in the Saudi Arabian landscape.
