by News Desk 8 months ago Technology Microsoft

Updates to the Microsoft 365 Copilot stack include the general availability of Copilot in Excel and the debut of Copilot Pages, while Agent Builder in Copilot Studio allows users to construct AI agents.

Microsoft has initiated the second wave of Microsoft 365 Copilot, delivering enhanced capabilities that aim to empower organizations of all sizes, from large enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses. These new features within the Microsoft Copilot stack are designed to boost productivity, facilitate collaboration, and ignite innovation in the ever-evolving AI landscape.

Introducing Copilot Pages: A New Era of AI Collaboration

One of the most significant additions is Copilot Pages, a groundbreaking feature designed for multi-user AI collaboration. As part of Microsoft’s latest design system for knowledge work, Copilot Pages provides a dynamic, editable canvas within Copilot chat. This allows users to transform insightful Copilot responses into durable documents that can be shared with teams. Multiple users can collaborate in real time, contributing data, files, and web content directly to the page, fostering a new pattern of human-to-AI-to-human collaboration.

Enhanced Features Across Microsoft 365 Apps

Microsoft has also unveiled several exciting updates across its widely used Microsoft 365 applications. A key highlight is the general availability of Copilot in Excel. This tool now offers detailed explanations and step-by-step instructions, enabling professionals to maximize Excel’s features. In addition, the introduction of Copilot in Excel with Python brings the powerful programming language into Excel, allowing users to perform advanced tasks like machine learning, forecasting, risk analysis, and data visualization, all through natural language commands.

PowerPoint and Teams Get a Boost with Copilot

In PowerPoint, the newly available Narrative Builder feature assists users in creating presentation outlines, with Copilot generating slides once the outline is finalized. Meanwhile, Copilot in Teams now can process both meeting transcripts and chats, providing users with a comprehensive understanding of what was discussed. Users can ask Copilot if any questions are missed, and it will quickly scan conversations to provide answers.

Streamlining Outlook with Copilot’s Email Management

Outlook users will benefit from the new "Prioritize my inbox" feature, which helps manage daily emails more efficiently. This tool directs users to important emails requiring immediate attention, summarizes lengthy messages, and even provides insights into why certain emails were prioritized.

Highlighting the critical role that customer feedback has played in the new wave of updates, Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President, AI at Work, Microsoft, said: “It’s been just 18 months since we launched Microsoft 365 Copilot. In that time, we’ve been more deeply engaged with our customers than ever before – in what’s become the world’s best feedback loop for AI. Nearly 1,000 customers have given us feedback on how they’re using Copilot, where it is having the biggest impact, and where it needs to be better. Based on that feedback, we have made more than 700 product updates and shipped over 150 new features this year.”

“For millions of people around the world, work happens in the Microsoft 365 apps,” he said. “It’s where Copilot is already becoming a daily habit, delivering personal productivity gains and time savings. And with Wave 2, we’re taking everything we’re learning from our customers and using it to make Copilot even better.”

Copilot Agents: Automating Business Processes

To further support organizations in customizing AI for their unique needs, Microsoft has introduced Copilot Agents within Microsoft 365 Copilot. These AI-powered assistants can automate and execute business processes, ranging from simple tasks to complex, fully autonomous functions. By utilizing Agent Builder in Copilot Studio, users of any skill level can develop and publish these agents across platforms like Microsoft Teams, websites, and mobile apps, empowering teams across departments such as sales, marketing, and customer service to scale their impact more efficiently.

The new updates and features are just the beginning of Wave 2 of Copilot innovation, said Spataro. “In the next two months, we’ll be sharing more about how Copilot is supercharging productivity and accelerating business value for every customer.”
