Axis Communications, a global leader in security and network surveillance technologies, has introduced two innovative solutions to enhance the AXIS Camera Station ecosystem: AXIS Camera Station Edge (ACS Edge) and AXIS Camera Station Cloud Storage (ACS Cloud Storage). These new offerings transform video network management by integrating edge cloud capabilities, thereby improving the physical security and surveillance systems of businesses. Both solutions are now available as part of the broader AXIS Camera Station product suite.
Role of Cloud in Modernizing Physical Security
As cloud adoption becomes critical for businesses in the Middle East to thrive in the global digital economy, it plays a pivotal role in modernizing physical security systems. The combination of cloud technology with advanced data analysis and cybersecurity strengthens companies’ surveillance capabilities, enabling more efficient and secure operations.
Simplified Camera-to-Cloud Integration
ACS Edge streamlines video management by providing a seamless cloud-to-camera experience that is easy to set up and use. This solution processes video data directly on the camera, eliminating the need for external servers or cloud-based processing. As a result, businesses benefit from reduced infrastructure requirements, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), and decreased operational costs. A key benefit of ACS Edge is its ability to access video content quickly, as processing occurs directly on the camera device, avoiding external server delays and simplifying system architecture.
“With ACS Edge, we are offering a true cam-to-cloud solution, while the rest of our new ACS offering extends our customers the opportunity of on-premise, cloud, and hybrid solutions,” said David Needham, EMEA Business Development Program Manager at Axis Communications.
Additionally, ACS Edge integrates seamlessly with Axis Edge devices and cloud services, allowing businesses to manage large amounts of data with ease. The system is designed for quick deployment, requiring only an Axis camera with an SD card or an AXIS S30 Recorder Series, significantly reducing setup time and ongoing maintenance efforts.
Reliable and Secure Cloud-Based Storage
Alongside ACS Edge, Axis has launched ACS Cloud Storage, a fully managed cloud service that offers secure, off-site video storage through a subscription model. ACS Cloud Storage ensures long-term accessibility to video footage, even if the physical hardware is damaged or fails. This cloud solution provides businesses with peace of mind, knowing that their critical surveillance data is protected and accessible from any location.
With ACS Cloud Storage, users can automatically transfer processed video footage to the cloud, reducing the need for expensive on-site storage while maintaining flexible access. The service includes a 30-day retention period for 720p video, making it a valuable solution for businesses across the Middle East, offering multi-region support and ensuring data resilience in the event of unforeseen disruptions.
“With the introduction of ACS Edge and Cloud Storage, we provide a comprehensive range of options for businesses — whether they require cloud, on-premise, or hybrid surveillance systems. AXIS Camera Station is a well-established flagship solution that has proven its reliability across industries, and this new generation will continue to empower customers with total control over their video surveillance systems,” Needham concluded.
