UAEV, the UAE's first government-owned electric vehicle (EV) charging network, has announced the adoption of new EV tariffs introduced by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. Effective from January 2025, these tariffs represent a significant step toward enhancing the sustainability and scalability of the network. Since the tariffs were first unveiled in May, UAEV has continued to offer free charging services, demonstrating its commitment to service quality and equitable access while aligning with the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future.
Transparent and Standardized Charging Fees
Starting January 2025, EV users will benefit from clear and consistent pricing. The tariff rates are set at 1.2 DHS/kWh + VAT for DC chargers and 0.70 DHS/kWh + VAT for AC chargers. These rates ensure fairness while supporting the operational excellence of the network, making EV ownership more accessible and convenient for users across the UAE.
Launch of User-Friendly Mobile Application
To enhance the EV driving experience, UAEV is rolling out a feature-rich mobile application. This app will allow users to locate nearby charging stations, receive real-time status updates, and make seamless payments. By offering these tools, UAEV empowers drivers to navigate its network efficiently and with ease.
24/7 Support for Seamless User Experience
UAEV is also launching a dedicated 24/7 call centre to provide instant support and assistance. This initiative aims to ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience for all EV users, addressing their needs promptly and effectively.
“This marks a transformative step in the UAE’s journey towards sustainable transportation,” said H.E Eng Sharif al Olama, Chairman of UAEV. “The implementation of standardized charging tariffs and the launch of innovative solutions like the UAEV app and 24/7 support reflect our ongoing commitment to enhancing the EV driver experience. By expanding our network and aligning with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, we are driving a cleaner, greener future for all.”
Expanding the Network to 1,000 Chargers by 2030
As part of its long-term vision, UAEV plans to expand its network to include 1,000 chargers by 2030. These chargers will be strategically placed across urban centres, highways, and transit hubs, covering all emirates. This ensures accessibility for both inter-city and intra-city travellers, making EV charging more convenient for a wider audience.
Supporting the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy
UAEV’s efforts align with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, advocating for sustainable transportation and reduced carbon emissions. By delivering high-speed charging solutions, real-time network monitoring, and strategically located stations, UAEV is driving the adoption of green mobility across the nation.
Integrated Solutions for a Sustainable Future
UAEV is committed to providing an integrated EV charging ecosystem tailored to diverse user needs. By prioritizing reliability, accessibility, and innovation, UAEV continues to play a pivotal role in the UAE’s green transition, reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable transport solutions.
