Farnek, a leading smart and sustainable facilities management (FM) company in the UAE, has been recognized for its exceptional health and safety practices. The company recently received the headline award at the ‘Better Together Awards,’ an event organized by Expo City Dubai to honour remarkable health and safety (H&S) and worker welfare (WW) achievements.
Celebrating Excellence in Health and Safety
The awards aim to celebrate the contributions of contractors and workforce members who help create a safer and healthier environment at Expo City Dubai. Farnek’s efforts stood out, earning the prestigious ‘Better Together Award’ for implementing initiatives that foster collaboration and deliver tangible results in 2024.
“This award recognises Farnek’s longstanding commitment, dedication and consistency, advancing the company’s H&S and WW strategy, which aligns closely with Expo City Dubai’s core values of care, integrity and excellence,” said Ryan Mitchell, Farnek’s Head of Quality, Health, Safety, Excellence and Wellbeing (QHSEW).
Driving Safety with Digital Innovation
Under the leadership of Mitchell, Farnek’s HSE teams utilized SAFETEK, a cutting-edge digital safety management tool. This innovation significantly enhanced the efficiency and quality of HSE reporting. The initiative led to a 21% reduction in safety incidents and a 38% increase in reporting observations, creating a safer environment for both tenants and visitors at Expo City Dubai.
Worker Welfare Initiatives Recognized
Farnek’s commitment to worker welfare was also highlighted during the awards ceremony. Mary Grace Besabella, the company’s Worker Welfare Officer, received the Worker Welfare Impact Award. She was recognized for her exceptional efforts in improving accommodation, transportation, and employment standards for staff at Expo City Dubai.
Besabella’s contributions extended beyond basic welfare. She actively supported staff needs, fostering a safe and welcoming workplace. She also organized social engagement programs, sports activities, and health campaigns while coordinating medical checkups. Additionally, she played a key role in Expo City’s Town Hall meeting, facilitating the reorganization of operational structures and promoting collaboration between the client and contractors’ teams.
Commitment to Excellence
Farnek’s achievements at the ‘Better Together Awards’ reflect its dedication to enhancing health, safety, and worker welfare. By leveraging innovation and prioritizing employee well-being, the company continues to set a benchmark for sustainable and collaborative facilities management practices.
