Dubai Chambers has made a significant contribution to the Emirate's sustainability drive by conserving an impressive 72,239 litres of water from June 2022 to June 2023. This remarkable achievement is equivalent to saving 3,822 five-gallon bottles. These water-saving efforts were undertaken as part of the chambers' active participation in 'Dubai Can,' a sustainability initiative spearheaded by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
'Dubai Can' has a crucial mission: to educate and engage all sectors of society in waste reduction and environmental protection. Dubai Chambers has implemented a range of measures to embrace sustainable practices through its Centre for Responsible Business. These measures encompass the installation of water filters and the provision of reusable water bottles to employees, discouraging the use of disposable plastic water bottles. Across its Dubai headquarters, the chambers have deployed a total of 23 water dispenser units equipped with filtration systems on all floors, all of which are linked to DEWA's safe drinking water supply.
These proactive measures position Dubai Chambers as a shining example for businesses interested in adopting eco-friendly and responsible practices. The adoption of these measures is a testament to the chamber's unwavering commitment to promoting responsible and sustainable behaviours, while also raising awareness about how small changes in daily routines can create a significant positive impact on the environment, society, and public health.
'Dubai Can' has set its sights on reducing the waste generated by single-use plastic water bottles in the city. It encourages individuals to opt for reusable water bottles, making clean and safe drinking water accessible to all through strategically placed water stations throughout Dubai. This initiative also strives to foster a culture of conscious living by driving awareness about plastic alternatives and sustainability issues.
