Asheil Versatile Lighting Technologies (Asheil) has secured a strategic landholding in Shaqraa Industrial City, approximately 180 km northwest of Riyadh, to develop a cutting-edge lighting manufacturing and technology hub. This significant move positions Saudi Arabia as a key player in advanced lighting production, reducing its reliance on imports while fostering industrial growth, supply chain resilience, and employment generation.
Empowering Local Workforce Through Innovation
The upcoming facility, which spans 6,800 square meters, will manufacture high-performance lighting solutions tailored for Saudi Arabia’s giga-projects, large-scale urban expansions, and commercial infrastructure. Beyond production, the initiative will drive local job creation, ensuring that Saudi professionals actively contribute to the nation’s industrial evolution. Asheil’s investment in localized manufacturing will equip the workforce with expertise in precision engineering and energy-efficient lighting technologies, reinforcing the Kingdom’s commitment to skilled labour development.
Pioneering Technological Advancements in Lighting
The facility will integrate state-of-the-art production methodologies, energy-efficient LED innovations, and precision manufacturing techniques to meet both market demand and workforce development goals. By generating high-value employment opportunities, Asheil aligns with Saudi Arabia’s long-term economic diversification plans, advancing technological self-reliance in the lighting industry.
“Asheil is proud to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s transformation into a hub for advanced lighting technology,” said Marco Fahd, Chairman & CEO of Versatile International. “This facility will not only provide international standard, high-quality, locally manufactured lighting solutions but will also create skilled jobs and provide new career pathways for Saudi professionals in manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain management. We sincerely thank the Saudi government and our partners for their support in making this vision a reality.”
Strengthening Saudi Arabia’s LED Market
In 2024, Saudi Arabia’s LED lighting sector was valued at USD 2.3 billion and is projected to grow to USD 4.8 billion by 2030, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.9 percent. The Kingdom currently depends on imports for a substantial portion of its lighting and signalling equipment, with China supplying over 40 percent of these imports. By shifting production to local facilities, Asheil aims to reduce dependency on foreign suppliers, bolster supply chain stability, and deliver tailored, region-specific solutions for developers and infrastructure planners.
“With Versatile’s extensive project management experience and Haneco’s deep expertise in LED manufacturing, Asheil is set to become a transformative player in Saudi Arabia’s industrial landscape,” said Nicho Teng, Founder & Managing Director of Haneco Lighting and Co-founder of Asheil. “Our integrated approach - spanning design, manufacturing, and after-sales support - will not only deliver high-performance lighting solutions but will also empower local talent with the skills and expertise needed to sustain and expand Saudi Arabia’s manufacturing sector.”
A Strategic Joint Venture for the Future
Asheil is a collaboration between Versatile International and Haneco Lighting, bringing together top-tier project management capabilities with advanced LED manufacturing expertise. This joint venture is designed to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, generate new employment opportunities, and provide expedited, customized lighting solutions for Saudi Arabia’s large-scale infrastructure developments. Through localized production, Asheil is set to play a vital role in the Kingdom’s vision for a technologically advanced and self-sufficient lighting industry.
