With a record number of attendees, industry leaders, and international ministers coming together to accelerate sustainable socioeconomic growth for the world, ADIPEC 2024 has solidified its place as one of the most significant and financially successful energy events in the world. This year's ADIPEC, which highlighted the UAE's convening power and its role as a global hub for energy, technology, and innovation, brought together a record-breaking 205,139 participants from 172 countries under the theme of "Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy." It was the culmination of four decades of energy leadership.
New Conferences and Expanding Voices
With almost 20,000 more guests than the previous year, the ADIPEC 2024 edition witnessed a notable surge in global participation. This increase demonstrates the event's expanding impact and wide-ranging global reach. Four new conferences were added to this year's conference schedule, bringing in new viewpoints from important fields like technology, finance, artificial intelligence (AI), youth, and the Global South. More than 370 seminars were held, with over 1,800 speakers from around the world—including 40 ministers—sharing their perspectives on the enormous economic potential that comes with cross-sector cooperation.
In its 40th year, ADIPEC 2024 was the most successful edition, facilitating approximately US$10 billion in cross-sector deals through strategic collaborations, demonstrating the event's increasing significance as a worldwide business platform.
Tayba Al Hashemi, Chair of ADIPEC 2024 and CEO of ADNOC Offshore, said: “The record-breaking 40th edition of ADIPEC has successfully convened the leading minds across multiple industries and geographies to drive value creation opportunities and innovative solutions to shape a more sustainable energy future. With a dedicated focus on the transformative potential of AI, ADIPEC has provided a global platform to unlock the economic opportunities that can be realised by collaborating across sectors. We will build on this momentum as we look forward to an even more impactful ADIPEC in November 2025.”
ADNOC's Managing Director and Group CEO, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, reaffirmed the need for cooperation to fully realise the transformative potential of three major megatrends: the expansion of emerging markets and the Global South, the development of artificial intelligence, and the continuous transformation of the energy system.
The ENACT Majlis emphasised the economic potential of cooperative efforts on the eve of ADIPEC, emphasising the significance of accepting the linkages between energy and AI. With a focus on leveraging the AI-Energy-Climate Nexus for future opportunities, the event, which was hosted by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, brought together 80 international experts from the energy, technology, climate, and investment sectors.
The first AI Zone at ADIPEC 2024 demonstrated the crucial connection between AI and energy. This area demonstrated how cross-sector cooperation is necessary to fulfil AI's growing energy demands and to use AI to improve energy efficiency and lower emissions.
Highlighting Partnerships and Innovation
With over 2,200 exhibitors and 30 country pavilions displaying new relationships aimed at promoting sustainable socioeconomic progress, collaboration was a major topic across ADIPEC's 16 exhibition halls. Innovation became a major focus, with 133 exhibitors offering solutions to speed up the energy transformation, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence, digitisation, and automation. The urgent need for new finance frameworks in the dynamic energy sector was discussed at the first Finance & Investment Conference. To address the disparity between present capital flows and the investment required to create an inclusive and equitable energy environment, this platform brought together professionals from the fields of government, finance, and energy.
Addressing the significance of cooperation and fair funding in guaranteeing an energy future that leaves no one behind, His Excellency Shri Hardeep S Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India, stated: “Energy is the spinal cord of an economy. When we talk about the global south, we sometimes forget where the global south is and what issues they have to face. In order for us to make the transition, we have to leverage the tools currently at our disposal and invest in the future. We have to make sure that they coexist harmoniously with green energy because our people need affordable fuels.”
Notable Deals and New Collaborations
ADNOC Drilling's $223 million purchase of a 95% interest in Deep Well Services, TA'ZIZ's $2 billion infrastructure investment at Al Ruwais Industrial City, and BGP Inc.'s $490 million agreement with ADNOC to expand the largest 3D seismic survey in the world in Abu Dhabi, were among the major agreements announced at ADIPEC. Additionally, JOGMEC and the International Energy Forum inked an MOU to advance research in clean hydrogen and carbon capture, and Black & Veatch and Baker Hughes revealed plans for a mid-scale LNG solution that could produce up to 2 million tonnes a year.
Looking Ahead: ADIPEC 2025
The 41st edition of ADIPEC was announced during the conference; it will be held from November 3–6, 2025. Expanding upon its illustrious history, the event will keep on bringing the energy industry together in its crucial endeavour to reduce carbon emissions, stimulating important conversations and creating revolutionary alliances to create a sustainable energy landscape.
