A record-breaking 205,139 attendees from 172 countries gathered at ADIPEC 2024, highlighting the UAE’s convening power.

ADIPEC 2024 has firmly established itself as one of the most influential energy events globally, attracting a record number of participants, industry leaders, and international ministers. This year’s event underscored the growing significance of sustainable socioeconomic progress in the energy sector, emphasizing collaboration as key to driving future innovations.

Held under the theme "Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy," ADIPEC 2024 marked four decades of energy leadership, bringing together a record-breaking 205,139 attendees from 172 countries. This milestone highlights the UAE’s role as a central hub for energy, technology, and innovation. The event saw an impressive increase of over 20,000 participants compared to the previous year, demonstrating the growing international importance of the event.

Expanding Focus with New Conferences and Global Voices

The ADIPEC Conference program introduced four new conferences that broadened its scope to include voices from emerging sectors like technology and AI, finance, youth, and the Global South. Throughout 370 sessions, more than 1,800 international speakers, including 40 ministers, explored the economic opportunities created by cross-sector collaboration. These discussions emphasized how working together across industries can accelerate energy transformation and sustainability.

Tayba Al Hashemi, Chair of ADIPEC 2024 and CEO of ADNOC Offshore, said: “The record-breaking 40th edition of ADIPEC has successfully convened the leading minds across multiple industries and geographies to drive value creation opportunities and innovative solutions to shape a more sustainable energy future. With a dedicated focus on the transformative potential of AI, ADIPEC has provided a global platform to unlock the economic opportunities that can be realised by collaborating across sectors. We will build on this momentum as we look forward to an even more impactful ADIPEC in November 2025.”

Success and Strategic Deals Shaping the Future

The 2024 edition of ADIPEC delivered over US$10 billion in cross-sector deals through strategic partnerships, marking its most successful year in history. His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, called for unlocking the transformative potential of key megatrends: the rise of the Global South, the expansion of AI, and the transformation of energy systems.

The Role of AI and Cross-Sector Collaboration

The event’s emphasis on AI and its role in energy transformation was highlighted through the ENACT Majlis, which brought together 80 global leaders to explore the AI-Energy-Climate Nexus. This theme continued in the AI Zone, where discussions and innovations focused on how AI can meet the growing energy needs and enhance energy efficiency while minimizing emissions.

Innovations and Partnerships Driving the Future of Energy

Collaboration was a central theme throughout ADIPEC 2024, showcased across 16 exhibition halls where over 2,200 exhibitors and 30 country pavilions came together to form new partnerships. Innovation played a key role, with 133 exhibitors highlighting AI, digitalization, and automation solutions that aim to fast-track the global energy transformation.

Speaking to the importance of collaboration and equitable financing in ensuring an energy future which leaves no one behind, His Excellency Shri Hardeep S Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India, stated: “Energy is the spinal cord of an economy. When we talk about the global south, we sometimes forget where the global south is and what issues they have to face. In order for us to make the transition, we have to leverage the tools currently at our disposal and invest in the future. We have to make sure that they coexist harmoniously with green energy, because our people need affordable fuels.”

Addressing Financing Gaps for Energy Transformation

A significant focus at ADIPEC 2024 was the need for new financing frameworks to support the evolving energy landscape. The inaugural Finance & Investment Conference provided a platform for leaders from government, finance, and energy sectors to address the gap between capital flows and the investments required for a fair and inclusive energy ecosystem.

Key Deals and Industry Collaborations

Notable deals and partnerships made at ADIPEC included ADNOC Drilling’s acquisition of a 95% stake in Deep Well Services for $223 million and TA’ZIZ’s award of over $2 billion for infrastructure projects at Al Ruwais Industrial City. Other agreements included BGP Inc.’s $490 million contract with ADNOC to expand the world’s largest 3D seismic survey in Abu Dhabi. Black & Veatch and Baker Hughes also unveiled plans for a mid-scale LNG solution, while JOGMEC and the International Energy Forum signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance research in carbon capture and clean hydrogen.

Christopher Hudson, President of DMG events, the organisers of ADIPEC, celebrated the event’s unparalleled ability to unite countries, companies, and individuals around the energy industry’s most promising solutions and pressing priorities, stating: “Businesses across the industry, from innovative start-ups to national energy companies, recognise that ADIPEC is the premier venue for forging critical partnerships and engaging in dialogues that lead to truly impactful outcomes.

“This year, the significant focus on artificial intelligence further enabled critical conversations on its potential to transform energy systems and accelerate the transition towards sustainable practices. As the energy landscape evolves at pace, ADIPEC will remain a beacon for those seeking to navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing world.”

Looking Ahead to ADIPEC 2025

As ADIPEC 2024 concluded, preparations began for the 41st edition of the event, scheduled for 3-6 November 2025. This upcoming conference will build on the successes of its predecessors, continuing to unite the global energy sector in its efforts to decarbonize and inspiring the crucial dialogues and partnerships that will shape a sustainable energy future for years to come.
