By participating in the Arab-DAC Dialogue, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development enhances development cooperation and promotes global advancement in sustainable development efforts.

The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) actively engaged in the two-day Arab-DAC Dialogue, a vital forum dedicated to enhancing development finance and cooperation in response to evolving global challenges. This year’s session focused on enhancing both the quantity and quality of development finance and cooperation, centring on two overarching themes: sustainable development financing in a dynamic context, and collaborative efforts for improved outcomes and partnerships. Panel discussions during the dialogue explored critical subjects such as the design and implementation of blended finance initiatives, mobilization of development finance for climate action, and effective partnerships for empowering youth in the MENA region. Participants aimed to deepen their understanding of shared values and priorities while seeking innovative strategies to achieve impactful development results.

During the event, His Excellency Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, the Director General of ADFD, held high-level meetings with Mr. Carsten Staur, Chair of the Development Assistance Committee of the OECD-DAC. Their discussions revolved around the general approach of development financing organizations, emphasizing the creation of essential infrastructure to attract private sector investments. Al Suwaidi underscored the necessity for global cooperation, particularly through blended finance mechanisms, to bridge the financing gap for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He also highlighted the collective imperative to combat climate change, emphasizing the identification of key areas within the climate agenda to foster partnerships and resource mobilization. Noteworthy commitments made during international conferences to mitigate climate change impacts were recognized as significant steps in this direction.

With upcoming international events like the Summit of the Future, COP-29, and FFD-4 on the horizon, the Arab-DAC Dialogue assumes critical importance in aligning priorities, shaping joint political agendas, and establishing actionable follow-up initiatives to guide global processes. Since its inception in 2009, the Arab-DAC Dialogue has served as a pivotal platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration in sustainable development, contributing to progress towards the achievement of the SDGs. As an active participant, ADFD remains steadfast in its commitment to driving positive change and fostering inclusive development on a global scale.
