Global real estate consultancy Savills has partnered with Visit Oman – licensed by the Ministry of Heritage & Tourism, and UK-based Hospiria, part of UnderTheDoormat Group, to launch licensed short-term rentals in Oman.
This partnership is driven by a dual commitment to guarantee a safe, high-quality and regulated guest experience for visitors while creating sustainable economic value for property owners.
The partnership has been structured to deliver a trusted, regulated short-stay offering for visitors, while enabling property owners to unlock long-term value from their assets. Under the agreement, Visit Oman will remain the brand and customer-facing entity, Hospiria will provide technology and guest management expertise, and Savills will lead on-the-ground operational delivery, owner engagement and local property management.
Ihsan Kharouf, Head of Oman at Savills, said, “The three-way collaboration brings together Visit Oman’s destination expertise, the technology and hospitality leadership of Hospiria, and the operational real estate strength of Savills to drive the growth and professionalisation of the short-term rental sector in Oman.”
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information, Oman’s tourism sector increased its contribution to the national economy by more than 3% in 2024, reaching OMR 2.12 billion. Government figures show that between January and September 2025, hotel stays rose by 9% year-on-year to 1.7 million guests, while hotel revenues increased by 18% to over OMR 192 million. These figures reflect the growing demand for hospitality offerings in the Sultanate and align with the Oman Vision 2040, which aims to bolster tourism as a key contributor to the Sultanate’s economic diversification plan.
The introduction of this licensed service will broaden the accommodation options available to tourists and short-term visitors, catering to a variety of budgets. At the same time, participating property owners will be able to generate returns from their assets, enabling benefits on both sides of the market.
Kharouf added, “We are excited to partner with Visit Oman and Hospiria to support the new legal framework for short-term rentals in the Sultanate. This allows us to offer both visitors and property owners a fully integrated and seamless service with enhanced security. For the first time in Oman, a single provider can offer developers and property owners the full range of rental options, unlocking additional investment potential.”
Shabib Almaamari, Managing Director – Visit Oman, said, “This initiative aims to utilise digital innovation to diversify our tourism economy and directly support Oman Vision 2040 by accelerating the growth of the digital sector. Our core commitment is twofold: to ensure a safe, regulated experience for all tourists, and to create sustained value for property owners. The Hospiria platform empowers owners with full regulatory compliance, drastically increasing their operational efficiency, optimising global distribution, and enhancing returns, thereby ensuring an authentic Omani stay meets the highest international standards.”
Merilee Karr, Founder and CEO of UnderTheDoormat added, “We are pleased to be working with Visit Oman and Savills to open the Omani market to professional short-term rentals and leverage global Hospiria technology to reach audiences from around the world. Short term rentals provide visitors with a diversity of product and help spread the value of tourism across the country, welcoming families to new locations to explore Oman as a destination.”
