BlackRock has announced the appointment of Caroline Hill as its Global Head of Real Estate Sustainability, marking a strategic step forward in strengthening the firm’s environmental focus within its property investment portfolio. Hill will serve as a director and will be based in London, where she will work closely with BlackRock’s real estate investment teams across global markets.
Driving Sustainability Integration in Property Investments
In her new role, Hill will be responsible for delivering key insights into the sustainability potential of real estate acquisitions targeted by the firm. She will also oversee the strategic development of BlackRock Real Estate’s decarbonisation plans at both the asset level and the broader portfolio level. Her leadership is expected to guide the integration of robust environmental practices across all facets of the investment lifecycle.
Bringing Extensive Industry Expertise to the Role
Caroline Hill brings with her more than 25 years of experience in the sustainability and real estate sectors. Prior to joining BlackRock, she was a senior leader at Blackstone, where she spearheaded sustainability efforts across the firm’s European real estate holdings. Her role included crafting sustainability roadmaps for various portfolio companies as well as engaging with investors on ESG strategies, particularly within core-plus and opportunistic real estate strategies.
A Strong Track Record Across Finance, Real Estate, and Consulting
Before her tenure at Blackstone, Hill held leadership roles in sustainability at several major UK-based organisations, including Lloyds Banking Group, Land Securities, and Whitbread. Her career began in consulting, spending over a decade advising clients on responsible business practices at PwC. Her diverse background, spanning financial services, property development, and corporate sustainability, positions her well to advance BlackRock’s ambitions in real estate sustainability.
