QatarEnergy has granted Técnicas Reunidas an additional Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, expanding their collaboration to encompass various elements of the LNG Offplot facilities for the North Field South Project. This significant contract reinforces the strong partnership between QatarEnergy and Técnicas Reunidas. Notably, Técnicas Reunidas is already engaged in EPC activities for the expansion of Condensate, LPG, and MEG storage and distribution, as well as associated facilities for the North Field Expansion Project. Additionally, the company is working on the EPC for the Sulfur Handling Facility for the North Field Expansion Project in a Joint Venture with Wison Engineering Ltd.
The newly awarded scope of work entails engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for a variety of off-plot facilities. These encompass the construction of LNG rundown lines, the establishment of boil-off gas (BOG) recovery and utility pipelines connecting the southern part of Ras Laffan Industrial City to new storage tanks and export facilities within RLIC. Furthermore, the project includes the commissioning of LNG tanks, an LNG loading berth, BOG compressors, and associated equipment.
The total value of this contract is estimated at approximately $560 million. The North Field, situated to the northeast of the Qatar peninsula, holds the distinction of being the world's largest non-associated natural gas field. This positions Qatar as the nation with the third-largest proven reserves globally, accounting for roughly 10% of the world's known natural gas reserves. This latest award solidifies Técnicas Reunidas' longstanding collaboration with QatarEnergy, underscoring their involvement in substantial projects related to the North Field's expansion since 2021.
