Global leader in industrial automation Emerson has inaugurated a cutting-edge Global LNG Solutions Centre in Qatar, marking a strategic move to boost innovation, sustainability, and talent development within the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector. This facility aligns with the Qatar National Vision 2030, supporting the nation’s transition toward a cleaner and more diversified economy.
Supporting Localization and Industry Collaboration
The new centre forms a key part of QatarEnergy’s TAWTEEN localization initiative, serving as both a knowledge hub and a catalyst for innovation in LNG. By leveraging Emerson’s international network and expertise, the facility will tackle industry challenges, promote eco-conscious solutions, and foster cross-sector collaboration. Beyond LNG, the centre also aims to support vital sectors such as offshore production, petrochemicals, refining, and gas processing.
High-Tech Features Empowering LNG Advancements
The centre is equipped with advanced technology to drive engagement, training, and problem-solving across the LNG value chain:
> Digital Collaboration Wall: Offers dynamic process flow visualizations to detect and resolve operational bottlenecks.
> Immersive LNG Experience Zone: Demonstrates how Emerson’s technology enhances efficiency and overcomes common LNG industry hurdles.
> Visioning Room: A space designed for ideation and joint exploration of future-forward technologies with global experts.
> Training Classrooms: Multiple modern learning environments dedicated to upskilling the local workforce in LNG operations and technology.
“At Emerson, we take pride in combining cutting-edge technologies with global expertise and localization to deliver solutions tailored to every market we’re in,” said President of Emerson Middle East and Africa Mathias Schinzel. “The Global LNG Solutions Centre in Qatar is one of the ways in which we support the Qatar Vision 2030 by driving economic progress through innovation, sustainability and human development.”
Continuing a Legacy of Innovation and Global Impact
Emerson’s investment in this centre further solidifies its position as a pioneer in LNG technology. The facility not only addresses Qatar’s domestic energy goals but also reinforces the company’s commitment to advancing LNG capabilities on a global scale.
Qatar’s Global Role and Emerson’s Strategic Partnership
As one of the top three LNG exporters globally, Qatar accounts for around 20% of the global LNG supply. Emerson has played a significant role in developing the nation’s Mega LNG Trains and associated infrastructure, offering solutions that enhance safety, operational efficiency, and sustainability. These include high-performance control and safety systems, cryogenic valves, fire and gas detection technologies, corrosion control tools, and emissions monitoring systems.
Launch Ceremony Draws Industry Leaders
The inauguration was attended by notable figures from across the energy and education sectors, including representatives from Qatar Chemicals, DOPET, North Oil Company, ExxonMobil, Samsung, and the University of Doha for Science and Technology. The event was led by Mathias Schinzel, President of Emerson Middle East and Africa, and included distinguished guests such as U.S. Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Timmy Davis, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al-Thani (Chief Engineering and Projects, QatarEnergy LNG), Abdulaziz Al-Ansari (Supply Chain Localization Manager, QatarEnergy), and Walid Samara, Vice President for Emerson in Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordan.
“The Global LNG Solutions Centre is proof of Emerson’s dedication to driving innovation. With this, we reaffirm our commitment to being a trusted partner of our industrial customers, especially those navigating the energy transition and striving for top-quartile performance,” Samara said. “We recognize that investing in workforce development and advanced technologies is imperative for any country or region striving for a sustainable and prosperous future, and we plan to be instrumental in reaching that goal.”
