Reuters has taken a significant step in its global expansion by unveiling a new Arabic-language website. This marks the agency’s third dedicated platform in another language, complementing its existing English and Japanese services. The launch highlights the growing demand for international, independent reporting tailored to Arabic-speaking audiences.
Comprehensive Coverage for Arabic-Speaking Audiences
The platform is designed to deliver trusted, non-partisan journalism across a wide spectrum of subjects. From breaking news and political developments to business, finance, sports, technology, climate, culture, and entertainment, the site promises more than one hundred original Arabic-language stories daily. In doing so, Reuters is positioning itself as a leading news source for one of the world’s largest linguistic communities.
A Strategic Middle East Expansion
This new initiative is part of Reuters’ broader commitment to the Middle East. Earlier this year, the agency introduced digital subscription options in the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait, reinforcing its long-term strategy of extending premium news access to the region. The phased rollout reflects both the region’s growing appetite for authoritative journalism and Reuters’ recognition of its geopolitical and economic importance.
Reuters NEXT Arrives in the Gulf
Another milestone in this expansion strategy is the decision to bring the Reuters NEXT summit to the Gulf for the first time. Scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi this October, the live journalism event will convene global and regional leaders across business, government, academia, civil society, and media. With six central themes, ranging from geopolitics and markets to technology, climate, and leadership, the summit aims to foster dialogue that resonates well beyond the region.
“Reuters first established its editorial presence in the Middle East in 1866,” said Josh London, Head of Reuters Professional. “Almost 160 years later, our commitment to providing professionals with the trusted reporting needed to make informed decisions continues to strengthen.
“The introduction of our new Arabic website marks the latest investment in the region, alongside the launch of Reuters NEXT Gulf and digital subscriptions, reflecting the strategic importance of the Gulf in Reuters consumer strategy.”
A Global Network with Local Impact
At the heart of this expansion lies Reuters’ extensive global network of over 2,600 journalists based in more than 200 locations worldwide. By combining international expertise with local insights, Reuters seeks to deliver reporting that is both globally relevant and regionally resonant. The launch of its Arabic platform underscores the agency’s belief that credible journalism has the power to connect audiences across borders and languages.
