The Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC), the state broadcaster of Ethiopia, has entered into a new strategic alliance with Viory, a media agency representing voices from the Global South. The two organisations have formalised their cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC), setting the stage for a dynamic exchange of media content, knowledge, and educational efforts.
Focus Areas of Collaboration
The agreement outlines several key areas of partnership between EBC and Viory. These include the mutual exchange of video content, the sharing of best practices in journalism, and the co-creation of training and professional development programmes tailored for media professionals in Ethiopia and the surrounding region. The collaboration also aims to strengthen journalistic capacity through hands-on learning opportunities.
Joint Events to Amplify Regional Stories
As part of the agreement, both parties will jointly organise events, including seminars and webinars, with the goal of showcasing underreported stories and developments from Ethiopia and other Global South nations. These platforms will be used to foster dialogue, amplify diverse perspectives, and promote deeper understanding of regional issues.
Expanding Global South Media Ties
This partnership builds on Viory’s growing network of collaborations with major media institutions across Africa, the Gulf, Asia, and Latin America. The MoC with EBC marks another step in Viory’s mission to elevate content and voices from the Global South on the world stage.
Getnet Tadesse, CEO of the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, commented, “This collaboration with Viory marks an important milestone for EBC. Together, we will enhance our capacity to share Ethiopia’s stories with the world and exchange experiences with other broadcasters in the Global South. Our joint initiatives will strengthen journalistic skills and foster a more connected media community in Africa.”
Zulayho Siddikova, General Manager of Viory, commented, “Partnering with EBC deepens our commitment to amplifying authentic voices from Ethiopia, Africa and beyond. By combining EBC’s rich storytelling tradition with Viory’s global network, we will deliver even more diverse and engaging content.”
