Philip Chalmers Promoted to Partner in UAE Finance and Restructuring
Philip Chalmers has been promoted from Managing Associate to Partner within the Finance and Restructuring team in the UAE. Since transferring from the firm’s Edinburgh office in 2018, Philip has led on numerous high-value financing and restructuring matters, including complex real estate deals across the Gulf region. His expertise covers both Islamic and conventional finance, with notable strengths in multi-lender debt restructurings, acquisition finance, and fund financing. Philip regularly advises a wide range of clients, including banks, sovereign wealth funds, private credit funds, and family offices, with mandates stretching from the Middle East to Europe and the UK. Highlights of his work include advising creditor committees on the restructuring of the KBBO Group and acting for lead arrangers on TA’s acquisition of a controlling interest in Alephya Education.
Jasem Alanizy Joins Partnership Ranks in Saudi Corporate Finance
In Saudi Arabia, Jasem Alanizy has also joined the partnership, stepping up from his previous role as Managing Associate in the Corporate Finance team. Jasem counsels top-tier corporations, sovereign entities, and private equity investors on cross-border M&A, joint ventures, and venture capital transactions. He has played a lead role in some of the Kingdom’s notable deals, including the acquisition of Kudu Food Company and Bindawood Holding’s purchase of Zahrat Al Rawdah Pharmacies from Julphar. With prior experience at leading global firms in London and Dubai, Jasem brings a valuable international perspective and transactional depth to Addleshaw Goddard’s expanding Saudi Arabian presence.
