Atmosphere Core, a premier hospitality brand headquartered in the Maldives, is setting a new benchmark in the international hotel industry. With its latest expansion into the Northern Hemisphere, the company introduces BORGO MONCHIERO HERITAGE BY ATMOSPHERE, a luxurious countryside retreat nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of Langhe, Piedmont, Italy. This milestone marks the brand’s first venture beyond its traditional South Asian stronghold, reinforcing its commitment to global growth.

A Decade of Rapid Expansion

From humble beginnings as a single resort in the Indian Ocean, Atmosphere Core has experienced phenomenal growth over the past ten years. Today, it stands as one of the largest hospitality operators in the Maldives, renowned for its dynamic approach and disruptive strategies. Over the last two years, the company has significantly accelerated its expansion, building a pipeline of over 25 properties across India and South Asia, laying the groundwork for its ambitious international foray.

As part of its global expansion strategy, Atmosphere Core actively forges alliances with key partners worldwide. In the past year, the company has strengthened its footprint in Europe, with Italy emerging as a focal point. A testament to its innovative approach is the introduction of the ‘Wine Program Initiative’, which welcomed Bottega S.p.A., the world’s leading Prosecco brand. This partnership extends beyond supplying award-winning wines—it also integrates exclusive culinary collaborations across Atmosphere’s growing portfolio.

This special relationship is just one of many that brought Italy to Atmosphere Core, and now vice versa, we are excited about the launch of our first European destination in Italy in 2026,” concluded Mr Panigrahi.

A Historic Monastery Transformed

Originally built in 1773, BORGO MONCHIERO HERITAGE BY ATMOSPHERE is a masterfully restored monastery and the second property under the brand’s ‘HERITAGE BY ATMOSPHERE’ collection, which falls under the ‘Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts’ umbrella. This distinctive concept emphasizes authenticity, preserving the estate’s original frescoes and Romanesque architecture. The retreat embodies the essence of Italy’s rich artistic, cultural, and gastronomic heritage, particularly that of Southern Piedmont.

A Luxurious Retreat in a UNESCO World Heritage Region

Located in a UNESCO World Heritage site, the property is surrounded by the famed vineyards of Barolo and Barbera wines. The former monastery has been reimagined as an elegant countryside escape, offering 19 exquisitely designed suites and rooms. Once renovations are complete, the retreat will feature an on-site chapel for weddings, a spa, an outdoor pool, a fine-dining restaurant, and versatile event spaces. Guests can also enjoy sophisticated lounge and terrace bars, ensuring a perfect blend of history, luxury, and modern hospitality.
