2023 saw a 15% growth in F&B consumers

Dubai Industrial City has reported significant growth in 2023, welcoming 12 new F&B customers to its thriving district. This expansion solidifies its position as a leading advocate for advanced manufacturing and the regional circular economy. The influx of these new F&B customers represents a cumulative investment of AED 800 million, highlighting the attractiveness of Dubai Industrial City within TECOM Group PJSC’s portfolio of 10 dedicated business destinations. These destinations cater to six strategic economic sectors and continue to draw food manufacturers and innovators from across the globe. Overall customer growth for the year reached an impressive 17%, with over 1,000 local, regional, and global manufacturing leaders now calling the district home.

This growth was announced during the Gulfood 2024 exhibition, the world’s largest annual F&B trade event held in Dubai from February 19th to 23rd. At the exhibition, Dubai Industrial City showcased innovations from 10 of its customers, including well-known names such as Patchi, Al Barakah Dates, and Barakat Quality Plus. Additionally, the district emphasized the pivotal role of mobility in ensuring food security through its Make Brilliance global awareness campaign.

“Advanced manufacturing is the cornerstone of global food security, and it must be relentlessly promoted to ensure a sustainable food system for generations to come,” said Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President of Industrial at TECOM Group PJSC. “A resilient circular economy can accelerate nutrition security by conserving resources and creating new economic opportunities, and we are proud to catalyse such win-win solutions for businesses, the environment, and future generations through the holistic ecosystem that is Dubai Industrial City’s F&B zone.”

Dubai Industrial City currently hosts more than 300 operational factories. Since its establishment in 2004, it has adhered to an intelligent and sector-focused master plan aimed at fostering collaboration and minimizing waste reduction across industries such as base metals, machinery, minerals, F&B, transport, and chemicals. Spanning 23.5 million sq. ft., the district's F&B zone is home to global and regional industry giants like Asmak, Barakat Quality Plus, and Silver Line Gate Group. Its sector-specific infrastructure, including industrial lands, storage and logistics spaces, and cold-storage facilities, plays a crucial role in supporting advanced agricultural practices and sustainable production, thereby aligning with national socioeconomic and environmental objectives.

“Strategies like Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’, Operation 300bn, and National Food Security Strategy 2051 are creating a future where food is abundant, accessible, and nutritious for all, and Dubai Industrial City’s commitment to this vision is unwavering,” said Saud Abu Alshawareb.

Dubai Industrial City's performance underscores its commitment to nurturing a dynamic and competitive F&B sector in the UAE while championing innovation and sustainability in advanced manufacturing for the global good. Its strategic connectivity to key local and national road networks, Al Maktoum International Airport, Jebel Ali Port, and an Etihad Rail terminal further strengthens the supply chain for its F&B customers.

The district's emphasis on mobility as a cornerstone of food security is evident through its Make Brilliance global awareness campaign, launched in 2023 in partnership with the UAE’s Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) to support the National Food Security Strategy 2051. As one of the region’s largest manufacturing and logistics hubs, Dubai Industrial City forms an integral part of TECOM Group's extensive portfolio, which includes renowned business districts like Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, and Dubai Science Park, among others.
