The Emirati ambassador to Ankara, Saeed Thani Hareb Al Dhaheri, has lauded Turkey's well-established and advanced healthcare system, citing its potential value to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Speaking at the Health Tourism Expo in Istanbul, Ambassador Al Dhaheri expressed the UAE's keen interest in harnessing Turkey's healthcare expertise. He emphasized the mutual benefit derived from the shared healthcare knowledge and infrastructure of both nations.
Turkey draws millions of foreign visitors annually, including those seeking medical services. The number of medical tourists in the country reached 1.2 million last year, underscoring its growing reputation in the global healthcare sector. Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Al Dhaheri highlighted the significant advancements and strengthening of ties between the two nations, attributing this progress to recent high-level exchanges. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to the UAE in July and Emirati leader Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's visit to Turkey in June 2022 marked pivotal moments in their diplomatic engagement.
“There is a very good number of health tourism (between UAE and Turkiye). In total, we have 140,000 people coming for tourism (to Turkiye),” said Al Dhaheri.
The UAE regards Turkey as one of its top 10 commercial partners, having signed numerous financial and economic cooperation agreements over the past two years. Both countries share a collective desire to further enhance their business collaborations, with their respective enterprises displaying great enthusiasm for advancing these partnerships.
“So this is an indicator of the relations between the two countries and the aspect of investments and economy,” Al Dhaheri said. Ambassador Al Dhaheri also pointed out various sectors ripe for investment opportunities in both nations, including technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and space-related ventures. These emerging avenues reflect the shared commitment to fostering economic growth and innovation between Turkey and the UAE.
