For children to experience something new

Gaza's sewing factories are now in full swing, crafting school uniforms in anticipation of the upcoming school year set to commence by the end of this month. Parents are showing a strong inclination towards purchasing fresh uniforms for their children, with costs often outweighing concerns about quality. Many are on the lookout for budget-friendly options.

Baraa Jabr, the owner of the Jabr Textile Factory, told MEMO: “The school season is the only guaranteed season for merchants and workers in light of the bad economic situation we live in because everyone is forced to wear school uniform, which at the same time is not considered expensive and is as affordable as possible for citizens.”

In the lead-up to both Eid festivals and the academic year, Gaza's textile industry witnessed a surge in activity, breathing life into the region's economy. However, the rising rates of unemployment and poverty within the enclave have made it increasingly challenging for families to afford new clothing and uniforms for their children. This financial strain has driven many into debt as they strive to provide the essential necessities.
