The DFSA Appoints Juma Thani Alhameli as their New COO

The Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), the independent regulator overseeing financial services within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), has named Juma Thani Alhameli as its new Chief Operating Officer. His appointment will officially take effect on 10 June 2025. Alongside this role, Juma will also serve as a member of the DFSA Executive Committee.

A Proven Leader in Transformation and Innovation

Juma Thani Alhameli brings with him over two decades of expertise in spearheading strategic transformation initiatives and elevating organisational performance. His career spans multiple high-impact roles in sectors including financial services, aviation, and technology, all within the United Arab Emirates.

Extensive Experience Across UAE Institutions

Prior to joining the DFSA, Juma held the position of Group Chief Technology Officer at First Abu Dhabi Bank, where he guided the bank’s technological evolution and strategic direction. His professional journey also includes a ten-year tenure at Abu Dhabi Global Market, where he occupied several key leadership positions such as Chief Communications Officer and Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer. Additionally, Juma has served on the board of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange and led the Banking & Financial Services Working Group under the UAE’s Economic Collaboration Committee.

Strong Foundations in Technology and Policy

Earlier in his career, Juma held prominent roles in the technology departments of notable UAE organisations, including the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Tanfeeth (a subsidiary of Emirates NBD), and e& (formerly Etisalat). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Khalifa University in Sharjah, providing him with a robust technical foundation that complements his leadership in policy and strategic development.
