Arthur D. Little has strengthened its Financial Services practice with the strategic appointment of Dr. Goetz Kuras as Partner. With a career spanning more than two decades, Kuras brings a unique blend of senior leadership, regulatory expertise, and consulting acumen to the firm. His focus will centre on the insurance, pensions, and social security sectors, where his deep experience is expected to bring significant value. Operating from ADL’s Riyadh office, he will advise clients not only across the Middle East but also on a global scale, reinforcing ADL’s commitment to excellence in international financial services.

Advisory Experience with Regulatory Impact in Saudi Arabia

Dr. Kuras most recently served as a senior advisor to His Excellency, the Governor of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this influential role, he played a critical part in GOSI’s strategic and operational transformation efforts. His insights were instrumental in supporting both the board and the leadership of the newly created Insurance Authority, where he helped shape the contours of the emerging National Insurance Strategy. This advisory role underscores his ability to operate at the highest levels of policymaking and institutional reform.

Industry and Consulting Roles Shaping Financial Innovation

His executive background includes serving as CEO of Medgulf, a prominent regional insurer, and sitting on the board of an InsurTech firm, reflecting his involvement in driving innovation within traditional and digital insurance frameworks. In the consulting arena, Dr. Kuras held influential positions at two global leaders: McKinsey & Company and Oliver Wyman. At the latter, he led the insurance practice for Central and Eastern Europe and later in the Middle East and North Africa. His track record includes delivering complex transformation programs, crafting forward-looking strategies, and advising both private and public sector entities on navigating industry disruption and regulatory change.

Academic Foundations in Science and Analytical Rigour

Dr. Kuras’s educational background reflects a strong analytical foundation, holding a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Cambridge in the UK. He also earned a Master’s degree from Florida State University in the United States and the University of Graz in Austria. This scientific rigour, coupled with his financial expertise, positions him uniquely to address the complexities of today’s financial services landscape with both depth and precision.

Martin Rauchenwald, Managing Partner at ADL, comments, “Driven by digitalization, AI and innovation, the Middle Eastern insurance sector is evolving rapidly to become a more fluid, open ecosystem. In parallel, institutional reforms of the pension and social security system are actively discussed among policymakers. Through his deep experience and understanding, Goetz is perfectly positioned to help clients harness transformation and seize opportunities in this changing environment.”

Goetz Kuras, Partner at ADL, adds, “The boundaries between insurance and other sectors are disolving. What has been a value chain is becoming a value stack with new business models emerging that combine value chain components across industries, requiring new approaches from market players, new entrants and regulators alike. Working with ADL’s expanding financial services practice and my colleagues in other industries, where insurance is complementary and enhancing existing value propositions, I look forward to helping grow our client base and impact in these crucial sectors that are vital for prospering societies and economies.”

A Strategic Asset in a Region Undergoing Transformation

As Arthur D. Little deepens its presence in the Middle East amid a wave of financial sector reform and innovation, the appointment of Dr. Kuras signals a strategic commitment to excellence in advisory support. His diverse experience, spanning executive leadership, regulatory engagement, and global consulting, is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing the firm’s influence and impact in the insurance and social security ecosystem.
