Seeking to foster growth, ensure continuity, and enhance the significant contribution of family businesses to the Emirate's economy.

In a move aimed at bolstering the long-term success of family-owned enterprises, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) has appointed two prominent business leaders to head the newly formed Abu Dhabi Family Business Council (ADFBC). This initiative aligns with ADCCI’s commitment to supporting the sustainability and growth of family businesses across generations.

Strengthening the Role of Family Businesses in Abu Dhabi's Economy

The creation of the ADFBC is a strategic step in the Chamber’s broader vision to reinforce the economic role of family-run firms. By building a robust institutional framework, the Chamber aims to enhance its contribution to Abu Dhabi’s economic stability, resilience, and future prosperity.

His Excellency Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of ADCCI, said: “Family businesses are the backbone of Abu Dhabi’s private sector, contributing significantly to our economic diversification and global competitiveness. As we accelerate our journey toward a smart, sustainable, and innovation-led ‘Falcon Economy,’ we are deeply committed to empowering family enterprises to scale their impact and seize investment opportunities across local and international markets”.

H.E. Al Zaabi added: “These appointments further reinforce the Abu Dhabi Chamber's role in shaping a future-ready private sector. With their deep-rooted experience and forward-thinking leadership, the Council will enhance the capabilities of family businesses across priority sectors—cementing their role as a driving force in Abu Dhabi’s next phase of economic development.”

Key Appointments: Chairman and Vice Chairman Announced

H.E. Khaled Al Fahim has been appointed Chairman of the ADFBC, with H.E. Masood Al Masaood named as Vice Chairman. Together, they will steer the Council’s initiatives to enable family businesses to adapt, expand, and take on a more active role in the national economic agenda.

A Veteran in Business Leadership

Bringing over two decades of executive experience, H.E. Khaled Al Fahim is a distinguished figure in the UAE’s corporate landscape. A current board member of ADCCI, he is known for his expertise in governance and organizational transformation, particularly within financial sectors and complex restructuring scenarios across the region.

A Multifaceted Career in Governance and Investment

In addition to his ADCCI responsibilities, Al Fahim sits on the boards of international and regional firms, including Blacklane GmbH and ENBD REIT. He chairs both Arady Properties and Ajyad Capital and is an Affiliate Partner at the Business Family House. His past role as CEO of Products & Services at Al Fahim Group complements his academic background, which includes a master’s degree in Diplomacy from the University of Westminster and a bachelor’s in Business Administration.

H.E. Masood Al Masaood: A Champion of Innovation and Entrepreneurship

As Vice Chairman of ADFBC, H.E. Masood Rahma Al Masaood Al Mehairbi brings a strong blend of business strategy and entrepreneurial vision. Currently serving as Treasurer of ADCCI, he is also the Chairman and Founder of the Emirates Angels Investors Association, which supports early-stage startups and innovation.

Deep Ties to Family Business and Industry Leadership

H.E. Al Masaood has played a pivotal role in expanding his family’s legacy businesses. He is the Vice Chairman of Al Masaood Oil & Gas and a Board Member of Al Masaood Group. His leadership as Deputy Managing Director of Al Masaood Automobiles contributed significantly to the company’s rise as a market leader in Abu Dhabi’s automotive sector.

Supporting Generational Growth and Modernisation

Established by ADCCI in December 2024, the Abu Dhabi Family Business Council is designed to help family-run enterprises transition between generations, modernise operations, and align with the evolving economic landscape. The Council champions innovation, employment, and engagement in knowledge-based sectors as key pillars of long-term success.

Safeguarding Legacy While Embracing Future Opportunities

With family-owned firms forming the backbone of Abu Dhabi’s private sector, the launch of the ADFBC is both timely and strategic. The Council seeks to preserve the heritage of these businesses while empowering them to embrace change, seize new opportunities, and remain resilient for generations to come.
